OUR STORY
Arcadia is a village, producing sustainably
Our Story

Arcadia Vineyards project is designed as a multidisciplinary living and production space developed with the principles of sustainability, offering high-end terroir wine production, agriculture, tourism, a new holiday and lifestyle model.

Arcadia’s philosophy is to adopt a sustainable production method that respects the balance in the soil, which is itself a sum of living organisms, and creatures living in and on it, while creating a space where the increasingly weakening ties between nature and human beings will be renewed.

Doing this, we also chose to reflect and keep alive the past and local values of the region at every step, and we named the vineyards “Arcadia”, referring to the old name of Lüleburgaz.

Viticultural practices that are planned and executed with the awareness that the soil is a living entity make it easier to achieve healthier vines and balanced maturation, therefore more delicious wines, and to pass on limited resources to future generations as producers and consumers.

There is an ancient farmers’ saying that goes “for the wolf, for the bird, and for our food” referring to sharing the crops with nature. The sustainability approach also envisages working in cooperation with nature by establishing the balance of the soil and the ecosystem in which the plant grows, strengthening the plant’s immunity and intervening as little and as necessary. In line with this principle, we have never applied herbicides or insecticides to the vineyards. In addition to traditional products, we have used beneficial bacteria to fight diseases. In fact, this approach is not very different from the relationship of a balanced microbiota to a healthy human body, which today we know is very important.

In the circular ecosystem we have established, all of the different crops grown support both the system and each other’s habitat. Lavender feeds honeybees and repels pests, what it cannot repel is eaten by the birds that come to the wheat and nuts and the ladybugs that live in the vineyard; oaks provide wintering grounds for beneficial insects; vegetables and legumes nourish the soil; bees collect pollen and produce honey while helping pollination. And of course, all these products are incorporated into the delicious dishes served in the hotel’s restaurant and are available in the Bakucha Gourmet shop.

And then, of course, there are the farms that make Arcadia a truly living, productive community. People who dream of returning to nature can own their own farms within Arcadia and receive vineyard maintenance services from the system, thus achieving their dream of rural life without giving up their busy careers or waiting for retirement. Thanks to these farms, Arcadia Vineyards has become a village, and a community of people with similar values and dreams. Bakucha Vineyard Hotel also serves as the social space of this village.

Arcadia Vineyards continue to live and thrive as a sustainable village that values nature, life, locality, culture, history, a sense of community and gender equality.
